Aral pulse, Aral’s e-mobility brand, and PPG-Nordpark GmbH, a joint venture between the development company of the city of Mönchengladbach and Borussia Mönchengladbach, are investing in the mobility transition and the Mönchengladbach location.

Aral pulse is planning to open its first pure charging park in Germany in the immediate vicinity of the A 61. The charging park comprises 14 ultra-fast charging stations, each with an output of up to 400 kilowatts (kW). Each charging station offers two charging points, so that a total of 28 charging bays are available for electric vehicles. This will make the facility in Mönchengladbach’s Nordpark the largest Aral pulse facility in Germany. The charging park will be covered by a photovoltaic system and will have a smart store with a lounge area and free Wi-Fi access. Completion is planned for summer 2024.

“The charging park in Mönchengladbach is part of our nationwide expansion strategy. The location in the immediate vicinity of the highway and the companies in Nordpark is highly attractive,” explains Alexander Junge, Aral Board Member for Electromobility. “Our ultra-fast charging network has now grown to around 2,000 charging points at around 300 locations. We want to install around 5,000 charging points by 2025 and even up to 20,000 by 2030. We are convinced that ultra-fast charging is the future. Depending on the battery technology, around 300 kilometers of range can be charged in Mönchengladbach within 10 minutes.”

Located in the immediate vicinity of the A 61 motorway, within walking distance of BORUSSIA-PARK, SparkassenPark and RED BOX and just three kilometers from the city center, the “Nordpark” industrial estate already provides jobs for over 6,000 people and is continuing to develop successfully. That is why the decision was made to convert the current temporary solution of the P8 gravel parking lot into a future-proof expansion. “E-mobility and sustainability play a major role for us and Aral pulse has proven from the very beginning of the joint planning that we have found an open and committed partner with a forward-looking vision,” explains Lars Randerath, Managing Director of PPG-Nordpark GmbH.

Aral pulse was named the best fast-charging provider in Germany in the 2023 connect charging network test. All Aral pulse charging points are powered by certified green electricity. Aral pulse offers customers several payment options at the charging points: Payment via card terminal (credit card, debit card, Google and Apple Pay), payment via QR code on the charging plug (credit card, PayPal), payment via meinAral app, payment with the traction current provider (eMSP) via charging card, app and Plug&Charge.

“Thanks to the collaboration with Aral pulse, we and the city of Mönchengladbach will certainly become a model for e-mobility in the region. Last summer, we were already able to put 18 normal charging points into operation with our regional supplier, NEW AG. For us, parking space management is always considered in the overall context of new forms of mobility and digital service offerings. This strategy seems to make us interesting for forward-looking partnerships and we will continue to pursue this consistently,” says Lars Randerath.

PPG-Nordpark is building almost 500 parking spaces on the current P8 site using permeable eco-paving. An intelligent lighting control system with LED technology ensures increased safety and energy efficiency. The parking lot is operated ticketless and cashless via a digital license plate recognition system. The parking lot and the fast-charging park, which has its own access road, are open 24/7 for event visitors, Nordpark employees and all other char
